Crawford Technologies Launches New Plug-in to Ease Document Accessibility for Microsoft Word Users

November 18, 2020, Toronto, ON – Crawford Technologiesprovider of innovative document solutions that streamline, improve and manage customer communications, announces it has entered into an agreement with WeCo Solutions Ltd. to resell its WeCo Office Accessibility product as Crawford Technologies’ new AccessibilityNow® WeCo solution, which enables Microsoft Office users to easily create accessible Word documents along with the corresponding accessible PDF files with only minimal training.

Previously, users required weeks of training on document accessibility, the latest WCAG and PDF/UA rules and regulations or advanced Microsoft Word functions. The simple-to-use Microsoft Word plug-in tool uses an advanced wizard to navigate users through the entire accessibility process with the added bonus of being able to validate the remediated output at the click of a button. Crawford Technologies’ AccessibilityNow WeCo solution makes it possible to significantly reduce the time and effort required to manually create accessible documents.

As more accessibility regulations become mandatory across North America and Europe and the cost of non-compliance continues to rise, making Word documents and the corresponding PDFs compliant is increasingly important. Crawford Technologies’ AccessibilityNow WeCo solution ensures compliance as Word documents are tagged accordingly and can be saved as accessible Word documents. At the same time, a fully accessible PDF can be created for e-delivery. For quality assurance, there is a built-in accessibility checker that makes it easy to verify that the remediated Word document is accessible.

“As a company, we have a mission to ensure the market has the best-in-class offerings for the creation and management of accessible documents,” said Ernie Crawford, president and CEO of Crawford Technologies. “Our customers are looking for a cost-effective way to create and maintain accessibility in their source documents. As an efficient and cost-saving solution for making Word documents accessible at the authoring level, this solution will play a major role for organizations working to build a culture of inclusion.”

Crawford Technologies is sponsoring a webinar on December 17 at 11:00 a.m. ET featuring the Israeli Tax Authority, which will discuss the successes it has had using the WeCo solution. Register for the webinar at this link
